You can’t talk bout Malaysia without talking about food.  Malaysian cuisine is as creative, as colorful, and as diverse as the Malaysian people are–not to mention tasty!  But…let’s let the photos do all the talking.

2013 GirlPower

January 9, 2014

Our Wilkes student teachers wanted to run a program at Sri Utama that empowered girls to get interested in sports.  So we all put together “GirlPower” and gathered the girls together for an after-school introduction to American sports.

We soon learned that these Sri Utama girls had a lot of energy and spirit!  It was hard to keep up with them!

The program ran for two weeks after school, and we all enjoyed every minute of it.  We hear there’s a request to bring it back this year….. Anybody interested?

The Chinese New Year Lion Dancers made their way to Sri Utama schools on February 22, 2013, one of the last days of Chinese New Year.

Below, the clown taunts and teases the lions while the instruments in the back keep rhythm to all his movements.  Their eyes blink and their mouthes open and close so expressively that they each seem to have their own personlity!

After the lions have enjoyed teasing the children and honoring the elders of the school, the dragon takes a turn.
